It has certainly been a year of transition for many. Due to the uncertainty of continued federal funding, requests for grants increased dramatically. While there are hundreds of worthy projects across the state, the Foundation made strategic grants to those organizations most aligned with our mission. We focused on geographic and ethic diversity, sustainability, and long term goals and objectives, as well as the organization’s ability to measure and track results.
This past year, the Chartercare Foundation provided funds to prevent teen suicide, provide free dental care, mental health counseling for victims of abuse, wellness programs for disabled adults, brain health for seniors, material child health programs, dental residency training, and healthy foods for disadvantaged communities, among others. We also provided 43 scholarships for RI students pursuing healthcare careers. We are pleased to share that our grants had a total positive impact on over 2,300 Rhode Islanders. We also awarded quality of life grants to young RI women undergoing cancer treatments. The Isabella Dora Corcelli Memorial Fund provided laptops, wigs, spa visits, and other experiences to help during their cancer journey. We are sad to report that we lost one of our recipients recently; but take comfort knowing that most of our recipients are in remission. As we move forward in 2026, we will continue to support the healthcare and education needs of the RI community, while maintaining the integrity of our donors’ intent. On behalf of the Board of Directors, we thank those who have shared our mission and have donated to the Foundation, and look forward to your continued support. With best wishes for a healthy and safe new year, Paula Iacono Executive Director
